Throughout nearly my entire career I've been drawn to black and white images. The distilled monochromatic essence of a scene without the distraction of color. Most of my images were conceived through the random chaos of a public place and the ambient weirdness of everyday life. They are my minds eye - my perception of a world all too often taken for granted and left unappreciated. One personal goal is to get beyond irony. It's likely most easily served with a camera which carefully and selectively conjoins contrasting points of view in one quick glance. However, I think there can easily be beauty and substance without such an explicit message. Leonard Freed once said "The more ambiguous a photograph is, the better. Otherwise it would be propaganda.". I couldn't agree more.
On the other hand, I could say my images are simply an outward expression of my inner self. Cluttered and complex yet simple at first glance. Worn down from years of trials and tribulations of everyday life and tough breaks, but absolute beauty to those who can see a forest for the leaves on its trees. Those who feel that the only form of perfection is in fact, the imperfect. Ultimately, I am my audience in the nosebleed section while everyone else is front row.
